When the Lord makes a promise, He makes a promise that He is both willing and able to fulfill. The only missing ingredient to the Lords promise is YOUR faith.

Recall what the word says about Mary (the mother of Jesus) in Luke 1:45 it says “And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her form the Lord”. The angel Gabriel had appeared unto Mary and told her that she would conceive a child even though she was a virgin. Mary actually believed the words of the Lord which came from the angel and so it was written of her that she would be blessed for her belief, that the Lord would perform His promise. But what happened when Gabriel appeared unto Zacharias and told him his wife would bare a son? Zacharias did not believe the word of God and focused more on his natural limitations whereby he said in Luke 1:18 “….I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years”. Since Zacharias did not believe the word of God he was made dumb for a season.

God must to honor His written word. When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness He didn’t respond with “well God just said I was the His beloved Son so I rebuke you Satan”. He responded with it is WRITTEN. The written word must be fulfilled. Numbers 14:28 says “Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you”. Speaking the written word in faith in the face of temptation, sickness, or disease is a form of warfare. After all,Gods written word is sharper than any two-edged sword. Paul also states in Ephesians 6:17 that the word of God is the sword of the Spirit. And just before that he says take the shield of FAITH. Thus faith + the word of God = successful warfare.

Whats my conclusion here? I’m saying that if you are sick, if you are diseased, if you are trusting God for break through in a situation understand that sometimes theres a time period between the Promise of God, your belief in the Word + plus your declaration of the Word and the actual performance of the word. So if you’re thinking about giving up, go back to what Hebrews 11:6 says “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that DILIGENTLY seek him”. The word diligent means: constant in effort to accomplish something; attentive and persistent in doing anything. Remember, Jesus wasn’t just tempted once then He got the victory He was at all points tempted.
