People often ask God for more faith. They want to have the type of faith Jesus had. In order for us to walk in that type of faith first of all it takes relationship. Spending time with Jesus (in His Word, Prayer, Worship). Also, walking the way He walked (in Love, Holiness). But I don’t want to talk about that part of it today, I want to talk about what your faith must endure in order to become more perfect.

2 Peter 1:5 says “But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.  For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” We see here that faith is a living thing that has certain attributes like self-control and brotherly kindness, after all, you cant be considered a man or woman of great faith if you lack self-control, or you dont walk in love. For example, say your faith lacks self-control, then the moment you pray for something and it doesn’t go your way when you expect it and you get upset, doubtful etc then right then you are out of faith.

Romans 5:3-5 says ” And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed”. To the mature believer, its obvious that faith must glory in tribulation, since the things of this world change and the word of God are forever settled in heaven. But this is not always easy since many of us get sad or discouraged through tribulation. But how can we call our faith great if we fall back at the slightest bit of tribulation? It is for this reason or faith must be tried!!! But once we have a few testimonies under our belt, then we know that all it takes is patience, and our experience through tribulation gives us hope that we’ll get through it. James 1:2-4 reinforces this point.

Out of all the healing training programs I’ve studied, none of these taught me how to really deal with the doubt. They all simply said, don’t doubt. But how do you do this?

The bible declares in Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him”.  James 1:6 – 8 “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways”. So whats all this mean? What does it mean to have rock solid faith? How do you achieve such a thing? The answer is simple, get rid of your doubt!!!

Okay, okay, you’re a little upset with me now right? You’re wondering how do I get rid of my doubt? I mean its not every day you see tumors shrinking at the sound of …IN JESUS NAME!! You obviously need a whole lotta faith to believe that even a pimple would shrink and disappear at the sound  a believer uttering  “In Jesus name”. The bible defines faith in Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. Lets suppose that you were told to drive a car with no engine. Getting in the car and trying to start it would be faith. Its simply taking God at his word despite what the laws of physics, history, economics, or medicine have to say about the situation in front of you.

Jesus said in Mark 9:23 “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth”. So if you believe then all things are possible for you because you’re in Christ and you’re doing the will of God. Your problem is that you still keep doubting. The first thing to do is to become childlike. All things are possible to children, literally they’ll believe anything like a some big jolly old guy goes around in a big red suit every Christmas eve…ah nevermind. Become like a child!! The second thing you need to do is fight off doubt. The bible says in 2 Corinthians 10:5 “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” So when that little thought that comes in your mind says, “she’s still in pain, or that cancer is still there, how can an amputee grow an arm” you simply respond to that thought by saying  in your mind “all the pain is gone in Jesus name, that cancer has left in Jesus name, that amputees arm is growing right now in Jesus name”.

Ephesians 1:19-22 “And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church”. Colossians 1:16-17 says “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist”. Taken together in order to deal with doubt you must first become childlike an know that all things are possible to him that believes. One must bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ — oh no you don’t bad thought!!!  Furthermore know that Jesus is the head of every type of principality, power and ANYTHING THAT HAS A NAME (knowing is still childlike since children believe that everything mommy says is true). Does cancer have a name? Lastly, all things were created BY HIM AND FOR HIM. So EVERY creature was created by Him and for His purposes. And we know that all things have their being in Him. So cancer has no being without Jesus. Jesus is a good God, do you think His purpose is to allow that cancer to have its being in a person? No!  So the spirit of cancer is there for Church to kick it out, hence creation serving His purpose.

Praying for the sick and seeing results can be a difficult thing. Most people who learn how to pray for the sick as Jesus demonstrated (not as Churches teach or demonstrate) see results but sometimes those results are hit and miss.

Here are a couple of strategies that may help you pray for the sick more effectively and see many more healed:

1) Believe what you say, fight off doubt.

2) Know that your words have actual tangible effect on the world. Studies show that people who use curse words tend to make people upset and people who use pleasant words tend to make people happy or more relaxed. So your words do have a tangible affect on the world. There understand mountains actually hear you and obey you (when your words are mixed with faith in what Jesus said about moving mountains).

3) Jesus only gave two ways to become great in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:3-4 where Jesus basically says that you have to become as little child to enter into the kingdom of heaven, which means, you have to believe that all things are possible with God. So stop analyzing and humble yourself as a child then you’ll be great.

4) The last ingredient is given in Matthew 23:11-12 and in Luke 9:46-48 where Jesus tells the disciples that whoever becomes the most childlike, the most humble, and serves the most will be the greatest. So if you want to be great at praying for the sick the way Jesus did, make sure you’re praying for a lot of people, hence serving the most!!
